LTT and ZTE sign Libyan network infrastructure modernisation MoU

State-owned service provider Libya Telecom & Technology (LTT)and technology giant ZTE Corporation have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) establishing a strategic partnership between the two parties.
Its aim is to accelerate network infrastructure modernisation and foster the growth of Libya's digital economy.
Under this MoU, signed at the recent MWC26, ZTE and LTT say they are committed to working together to collaborate on a number of areas. These include the planning and deployment of 4G and 5G networks to enhance coverage, connectivity, and performance across Libya, and expanding digital service ecosystems by jointly developing and integrating innovative services, including e-wallet solutions, e-commerce platforms, and content delivery networks (CDN), to enrich user experiences.
Another target is to accelerate the availability and adoption of high-performance devices, including (fixed wireless access (FWA), customer premises equipment (CPE), and mobile Wi-Fi (MiFi) solutions, to bridge the digital divide.
Finally, the partners say they will explore new business models to strengthen LTT's market position and accelerate Libya's overall digital transformation.
There are no timetables or further details on these plans as yet. However, the partners have expressed optimism on the prospects for the partnership.
Indeed, Zhang Wanchun, Senior Vice President of ZTE, says: "The combination of our cutting-edge technological innovations and LTT's strong market presence will accelerate Libya's digital evolution. This MoU reflects our shared vision of bridging the digital divide and empowering the local market with next-generation communication tools and diversified digital services."
Describing this partnership as “a transformative moment for the cooperation between us”, Ammar Albouzaidi, Chairman of LTT, adds: "By integrating ZTE's world-class 4G/5G technology and digital new business solutions, LTT is not only enhancing connectivity but also building the foundation for a robust digital economy."
