Fring Powers PLDT Global’s JuanaChat Mobile App

PLDT Global has selected Fring to power its JuanaChat app aimed at helping overseas Filipino migrants and workers to stay connected with friends and families in the Philippines.

Millions of Filipinos work abroad for extended periods of time, creating demand for simple, user-friendly and cost-effective service. JuanaChat empowers end-users to call, chat, and send free instant messages and video calls within the community. Users can also call phones that are not yet internet-connected at affordable rates. To encourage take-up, PLDT is offering new users free airtime bundles to mobile phones and landlines in the Philippines.

Fring is a white label OTT application for operators and service providers that enables peer-to-peer voice and video calls, chat and conferencing as well as voice and SMS. The application uses the device internet connection and works across all mobile networks over a range of connections - 3G/4G, Wi-Fi, GPRS and EDGE. It is compatible with most smartphones & tablets including Apple, Android and Windows OS.

The Fring OTT solution allows carriers, MSOs and MVNOs to take advantage of a telco-grade cloud network and a suite of applications to extend their network's reach and deploy an IP communication and telephony service quickly and with low risk, according to Texas based Fring supplier, Genband. Through intimate network integration, Telco OTT services can deliver a user experience that is vastly superior to what any independent OTT service can provide. In addition, since operators already have a billing relationship with their users, they can easily bundle new free or premium services to existing service plans.
