Philippines service provider PLDT has clearly had a busy few days – not only announcing a major acquisition but also planning a transformation of the loyalty ecosystem it shares with its wireless subsidiary Smart Communications.
It say it has now completed the acquisition of the remaining 65.1% stake in Radius Telecoms, making the telecommunications company a wholly owned subsidiary of PLDT.
Radius was a subsidiary of electric distribution utility the Meralco company, delivering its services on an end-to-end full fibre optic network covering more than 11,000 kilometres in the Mega Manila and nearby provinces, as well as Clark in Central Luzon and Cebu in the Central Visayas region.
The acquisition gives PLDT full ownership of Radius and strengthens its position in the Philippines’ telecommunications and connectivity market.
Meanwhile PLDT and its wireless subsidiary Smart Communications have partnered with loyalty management platform Capillary Technologies to transform and unify their loyalty ecosystem across mobile, broadband and partner engagement platforms.
Through the partnership, Capillary will power a next-generation loyalty platform, bringing together PLDT Home, Smart, and Ka-Partner programmes into a single ecosystem designed to deliver more personalised and rewarding experiences across millions of customers.
The companies say that the initiative marks a significant step in PLDT and Smart’s customer engagement strategy as the group consolidates multiple loyalty environments into a more intelligent and scalable platform powered by artificial intelligence (AI), advanced personalisation, and real-time engagement capabilities.
The rollout will follow a phased implementation approach over the next year.
