Cable and Wireless (C&W) will be boosting the range of services its Caribbean bmobile customers will enjoy by integrating a messaging gateway which will enable access to more content services, will use more content providers, and will act at a more rapid pace.

Finland-based Exomi will be C&W's partner, installing its Messaging Gateway, a platform for the provisioning, delivery, management, and charging of messaging and content services. In all, there will be accommodation for bmobile's roadmap in messaging, games, music, photos, and other content.

Kevin Wiley, C&W's Vice President of Mobile Services in the Caribbean, is optimistic: "It is imperative that we are able to turn important partnerships (such as our relationships with BET and MTV's new television network, Tempo, and our sponsorship of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007) into exciting and relevant products for our customers throughout the region?. We expect consumer interest in products such as Text Messaging, Games, Ring Tones, and Wallpapers to continue growing?In the last year alone, usage of such products among our customers in the Caribbean has more than doubled, and as more customers upgrade to new handsets, we expect this trend to continue."

The new platform will provide access to bmobile customers located in Anguilla , Antigua, Barbados , Bermuda , British Virgin Islands , Cayman Islands , Dominica , Grenada , Jamaica , Montserrat , St Kitts & Nevis , St Lucia , St Vincent & Grenadines, and Turks & Caicos.

Exomi has the advantage of previous work in Latin America and Europe , where the market for mobile messaging and content services tends to be more developed than in the Caribbean . It has in fact enjoyed a commercial relationship with Cable and Wireless in Panama since 2003.

Exomi's wireless messaging and data solutions are being increasingly utilised in the mobile value added services-provisioning infrastructure; today, there are more than 150 active installations worldwide.
