ZTE revealed on Friday that Peruvian ISP MiFibra has commercially deployed its XGS-PON technology to boost its fibre home broadband access speeds and expand its market reach.
The upgrade includes ZTE's 10G PON solution, smart cloud platform (SCP) and Wi-Fi 6 terminal devices, as well as its automated network management capabilities to ensure efficient operations.
MiFibra has leveraged the technology to upgrade its main fibre home broadband offering from 800 Mbps/1 Gbps to 2 Gbps.
ZTE said the large-scale rollout – which now serves more than 20,000 MiFibra subscribers – ensures stable 2 Gbps speeds across both wireless and wired home environments.
MiFibra has also leveraged the XGS-PON upgrade to expand from northern Peru to Lima, where it has launched a top-tier 5 Gbps service package that has already signed on over 5,000 users.
ZTE said XGS-PON not only helps MiFibra support data-intensive apps like 8K UHD streaming and professional VR/AR, but also optimises total cost of ownership (TCO) with automated O&M tools and provides future-proof scalability that allows seamless service upgrades as consumer needs evolve.
