Medallion Communications, a newly launched interconnect clearing house for all telecommunications service providers in Nigeria, has commissioned Intec Telecom Systems to provide a combined interconnect transiting switch and interconnect settlement scheme under one platform.

Targeted at Nigerian telecom operators, this is the first time this class of service is being licensed by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to solve the interconnect challenges facing the Nigerian telecom industry. Under the terms of the agreement, which enhances Intec's position as a dominant player in Nigeria's niche telecoms billing market, Medallion Communications will install Intec's InterconnecT and Inter-mediatE solutions to support its fast-growing inter-carrier settlement operations.

Medallion Communications handles the inter-carrier billing systems between different Nigerian organisations, ensuring improved call completion rates, prompt bill settlement and increased revenue for operators. Intec's software will in turn provide Medallion with the capability to future-proof its existing and potential service offerings. This level of flexibility is vital to remaining a competitive force in Nigeria's fast-growing, billion-dollar telecommunications industry.
