Raxio supports AFR-IX expansion in Angola and Mozambique

Raxio Group has announced that its data centre portfolio will provide the digital backbone for pan-African infrastructure and licensed telecommunications operator AFR-IX Telecom to expand in Angola and Mozambique.

Deployment of AFR-IX’s advanced network infrastructure in Raxio’s colocation data centres will give enterprises, internet service providers, mobile operators and cloud platforms enhanced access to regional and international connectivity, supporting growing demand for cloud services, AI-driven applications and data-intensive workloads.

It will also reinforce the roles of Angola and Mozambique as emerging digital gateways for West-Central and Southern Africa.

Raxio says that AFR-IX’s decision to deploy through Raxio reflects the strength of the group’s digital platform, anchored by the first independent carrier-neutral data centres in Angola and Mozambique to achieve Tier III certification.

It adds that, by combining Raxio’s carrier-neutral colocation infrastructure with AFR-IX Telecom’s extensive terrestrial and subsea network assets, customers will benefit from greater network diversity, improved resilience and more efficient traffic routing.

Customers hosted within Raxio’s facilities in Luanda and Mozambique will benefit from enhanced access to AFR-IX’s substantial autonomous system (AS) cone and pan-African network, enabling more efficient traffic exchange and improved connectivity to regional and international destinations.

With the support of its data centres, designed to support high-density cloud workloads sustainably, Raxio says the partnership provides a future-proof foundation for global content delivery networks and cloud service providers looking to expand their footprint safely into Southern and West-Central Africa.

It also supports localisation.
