Zain KSA announced on Thursday it has commenced commercial rollout of Saudi Arabia’s first 5G-Advanced network, starting in Riyadh and Jeddah.
The 5G-A rollout builds on Zain’s recently launched 5G standalone (5G SA) network, which leverages the 600-MHz spectrum band alongside other bands. Zain said this will strengthen coverage and improve the connectivity experience, particularly indoors and in areas that require broader signal reach.
Zain said 5G-A customers will see stronger network performance across everyday apps, including ultra-HD content streaming, cloud gaming, video calls, and AI-powered services, as well as more consistent performance in high-density environments, improved indoor coverage, and greater battery efficiency on 5G-A compatible devices.
The technology also lays out the foundation for next-gen services such as Voice over New Radio (VoNR), RedCap IoT technologies, and other innovations that will underpin future digital services, said Zain KSA CEO Saad bin Abdulrahman AlSadhan.
“The commercial launch of 5G-Advanced marks another milestone in Zain KSA’s journey to redefine the connectivity experience by bringing the world’s latest innovations into the everyday lives of our customers,” he said in a statement.
