Ericsson announced on Tuesday that it has renewed its partnership with Bahrainian telco Batelco by Beyon, which will deploy Ericsson’s latest RAN solutions to expand coverage of its 5G network.
Under the deal, which was signed during this week’s Gateway Gulf Investment Forum in Bahrain, Batelco will extend 5G coverage across residential areas, hospitality venues, commercial districts, and industrial zones such as Diyar AlMuharraq, Salman City, Bahrain Bay and Ras Zuwaied industrial area.
Ericsson RAN gear to be deployed under the project includes enclosures and power, resilient sites, advanced environmental battery systems, and high-performing radios that enhance upload performance and network energy efficiency while reducing hardware footprint.
Ericsson will also upgrade Batelco's cloud infrastructure, which it said will not only make its core network more scalable and operationally efficient, but also enable the telco to support applications such as IoT solutions, 5G Advanced use cases and AI-powered operations.
“By expanding our coverage to new areas, deploying cutting-edge network equipment, and integrating advanced, experience technologies, we are ensuring that Batelco’s network remains at the forefront of reliability and performance, providing our customers with an exceptional digital experience,” said Batelco CEO Maitham Abdulla in a statement.
