STT GDC launches STT Jakarta 2, gets cracking on next two data centres

A week after securing new funding for its Indonesian data centre campus, ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) launched its STT Jakarta 2 facility on Wednesday, while also topping out STT Jakarta 3 and breaking ground on STT Jakarta 5 and STT Jakarta 6.

STT Jakarta 2 has commenced operations in the Cikarang campus with 24MW of IT load capacity. STT Jakarta 3 is expected to add another 24MW of capacity once it goes live later this year.

STT GDC Indonesia said STT Jakarta 5 and STT Jakarta 6 mark the next phase of development, with each facility planned to support 40MW of IT capacity.

This expansion is supported by an on‑site high‑voltage substation, which STT GDC said is the first to be energised for a data centre campus in Indonesia. The on‑site substation will enhance power reliability and shorten the path from generation to IT load, which in turn will reinforce the campus’ ability to deliver scalable, power-secured infrastructure for hyperscale and enterprise customers, the company said.

STT GDC said the substation is also designed to improve overall energy performance by reducing transmission losses and enhancing power quality to the campus.

STT Jakarta 1, which was officially launched in July 2023, supports up to 19.5 MW of IT capacity. The STT Jakarta campus is planned to support a total of 360MW of capacity.

STT GDC added that the campus is being developed to support high-density, AI-ready workloads, with data halls engineered for the next-gen Nvidia Vera Rubin and Vera Rubin Ultra platforms and ready for liquid cooling, backed by resilient power configurations and carrier-neutral connectivity to meet evolving performance requirements.

Beyond increasing capacity, the STT Jakarta campus is expected to act as a magnet for global cloud, AI and digital platforms, catalysing new enterprise services and supporting high skilled jobs across engineering, operations and partner ecosystems, said STT GDC Indonesia country head Hendrikus Hendra Gozali.

“Indonesia is entering a new phase of digital growth where infrastructure readiness will become increasingly important in supporting AI adoption, cloud expansion, and enterprise transformation,” he said. “The continued expansion of our Jakarta data centre campus underscores our long-term commitment to meeting these evolving needs with scalable, high-density capacity that supports both current and next-generation workloads, backed by secured high‑voltage power on‑site and carbon‑neutral operations from day one.”

A March 2026 report from Indonesia’s Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs projects the country’s digital economy to reach US$130 billion by 2026, with AI positioned as a key engine of growth driving productivity, innovation and competitiveness.

The latest update comes a week after STT GDC revealed it had secured IDR8.8 trillion (around US$500 million) in additional financing for the STT Jakarta campus.

Adjacent to the launch of STT Jakarta 2 and updates on the other three data centres, STT GDC Indonesia also highlighted initiatives to strengthen Indonesia’s digital talent pipeline and support communities around the data centre campus in Cikarang.

These include a Data Centre Laboratory Learning Centre in West Java, to be launched in partnership with local vocational institution ATMI Cikarang, and a partnership with EPI to deliver globally recognised Data Centre Fundamentals Certificate training, as well as structured internship placements within STT GDC’s operations and engineering teams.

STT GDC said it has also delivered a dedicated badminton facility in Cikarang Pusat District, managed by the local district office, which provides “a shared space for recreation and community gatherings for residents living near the STT Jakarta campus.” An additional badminton court is also being planned.
