Indian real estate developer Anant Raj, now also operating in the data centre space as Anant Raj Cloud, has reportedly signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Andhra Pradesh, a state on the east coast of southern India, for the development of new data centre facilities and an IT park.
Under this MoU, signed late last week with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB), Anant Raj Cloud will invest approximately INR45 billion (about US$507.8 million), to be executed in two phases, towards building advanced data centre infrastructure and cloud services. It's not yet clear where precisely the new facilities will be built.
Asian News International (ANI) reports that the project is expected to create approximately 8,500 direct and 7,500 indirect jobs, while bolstering the state's digital ecosystem.
This planned investment and expansion are apparently on top of the company's existing 307MW of data centre capacity currently under development. The collaboration aims to accelerate the development of world-class digital infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh. APEDB will provide facilitation support and coordination with relevant government bodies for timely execution.
ANI reports that Anant Raj Limited currently operates 28 MW of IT load across its campuses in Manesar and Panchkula in the northwestern state of Haryana and aims to expand total capacity to 307 MW by 2031-32 across Manesar, Panchkula, and Rai (also in Haryana) backed by a US$2.1 billion capex plan.
Established in 1969, Anant Raj started as a real estate company. In June 2024, Anant Raj partnered with Orange Business to deliver managed cloud services in India.
