Huawei to upgrade Telecel Ghana’s network in $70m deal

Huawei has secured a contract worth US$70 million to upgrade the network of Ghanaian operator Telecel, as part of a nationwide modernisation effort.

According to the Ghana News Agency, the memorandum of understanding (MoU) establishes a framework to advance Telecel’s Ghana Rollout Project, which commenced this month. The initiative aims to enhance network performance and deliver next-generation digital services to consumers and enterprises across the country.

Telecel Group COO Malek Atrissi said the partnership with Huawei supports the operator’s ambition to strengthen Ghana’s digital infrastructure and expand access to advanced connectivity.

Telecel Ghana CEO Patricia Obo-Nai added that Huawei’s technology will enable the company to deliver “world-class digital experiences” to its customers.

Huawei stated: “The MoU reflects our shared vision of building an intelligent, inclusive and connected future.”
