Orange Tunisie announced on Friday it has launched satellite broadband services in Tunisia via an earlier deal with Eutelsat, offering connection speeds of up to 100 Mbps.
The new Orange Satellite service covers all of Tunisia, but is aimed mainly for isolated areas to provide reliable connectivity wherever terrestrial telecommunications infrastructures are limited or non-existent.
The operator also said it is offering the service in two packages, one of which is aimed at professionals located in isolated areas.
Orange Tunisie said the service uses Eutelsat's latest generation KONNECT satellite, which promises higher performance than previous generations, with more bandwidth, better signal stability and significantly improved throughput.
The launch comes a year after Orange Africa and Middle East (OMEA) formed a multi-year partnership deal with Eutelsat to use its KONNECT satellite to provide reliable and accessible broadband internet access in the region. The initial agreement covered Jordan, Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal and the Democratic Republic of Congo, with the aim of gradually extending to other countries where Orange operates.
Orange also signed a deal with Eutelsat Group in June 2025 to use the latter’s OneWeb constellation to offer LEO satellite connectivity services to its enterprise and government customers worldwide, particularly in Africa and the Middle East.
Apart from the countries named above, Orange also operates mobile networks Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Egypt, Guinea Bissau, Guinea Conakry, Liberia, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritius, Morocco, Central African Republic, Senegal and Sierra Leone.
