Eutelsat says it has signed a new distribution agreement with Angolan telecoms service provider MSTelcom, to deliver Eutelsat’s OneWeb LEO connectivity services across key vertical sectors such as oil & gas and maritime, as well as fixed land operations.
Under the agreement announced on Thursday, MSTelcom – a subsidiary of Sonangol Group – will serve as a distributor of Eutelsat’s OneWeb services within Angola, bringing LEO connectivity solutions to enterprise, public sector and telecoms customers.
The agreement leverages Eutelsat’s operational footprint, including a ground station and local PoP in Angola that enable Eutelsat’s OneWeb’s high-speed, low-latency services in the country and across Central Africa.
“Partnering with Eutelsat enables MSTelecom to provide next-generation connectivity solutions to our customers operating in demanding and remote environments,” said MSTelcom CEO Felisberta de Jesus in a statement. “This agreement strengthens our mission to deliver reliable, high-quality communications that support Angola’s industrial growth and digital development.”
Philippe Baudrier, VP Africa for Eutelsat, added that Eutelsat is the only licensed LEO services operator in Angola, and also has a well-established presence in the country delivering both broadcast and connectivity services.
“This agreement expands the reach of our LEO services in Angola and strengthens our work supporting the country’s connectivity needs,” Baudrier said.
The MSTelecom deal comes hot on the heels of another Eutelsat agreement announced last week with Paratus Group to expand delivery of OneWeb services across Southern Africa. That deal includes Angola, as well as South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Zambia.
