Dito partners with Viber on zero-rated plans to boost competitiveness

Philippines-based challenger operator Dito Telecommunity has partnered with Rakuten-owned messaging app Viber to offer zero-rated plans on the platform, aiming to strengthen its competitiveness and attract new customers.

Dito will launch a SIM starter pack priced at PHP39, which includes free data use on Viber for chat, calls, and file sharing. The pack also comes with 25GB of data, unlimited calls, and unlimited texts to all networks. As an exclusive for its subscribers, Dito is offering unlimited video and voice calls between its customers.

The partnership will expand to include premium services Viber Plus and Viber Dating, which will be offered on promotion to those who take up the starter pack.

Rakuten Viber Asia Pacific senior director David Tse described the Philippines as a major market for the app. “This team-up makes perfect sense to help deliver many Viber features that benefit Filipinos – from connectivity to security – and push towards a smarter digital lifestyle,” he said.

Dito chief revenue officer Adel Tamano added: “We are among the most social and connected people in the world. The partnership between Dito and Viber marks the innovative commitment of both companies to make daily connections faster, easier, and more enjoyable.”
