Telefonica is implementing VPIsystem’s OnePlan software as part of its Transport Network Optimisation Program in Latin America.

This OSS transformation initiative will modernise Telefonica’s networks and systems in order to accelerate the deployment of new technologies and to increase network coverage. VPIsystems’ software solutions will help the operator to improve the efficiency of its network assets, and will be rolled out in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Peru.

With the Transport Optimisation Program, Telefonica is reviewing and optimising the entire lifecycle of its transport network, deploying new tools with new, standardised, streamlined processes, in order to achieve excellence in efficiency and deliver improved quality to customers all over its operations.

“As data consumption in our networks continues to grow rapidly, our customers expect an experience that is similar to that of a voice call” said Juan Manuel Caro Bernat, Director of Operations & OSSs, Telefónica S.A. “Streamlined capacity planning is critical in realising our strategy. The key to doing this successfully is to have a business partner who has experience in doing this at a large scale.”

Tito Sharma, President and Chief Executive Officer, VPIsystems, said: “The tremendous growth in the adoption of smartphones over the last few years has greatly increased data traffic on operators’ networks. This is creating a need for network optimisation software to accommodate these demands as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible.”
