BT bags international connectivity licence in Egypt

BT Group’s Egyptian unit has been granted a licence to provide connectivity services and information transfer to institutions and companies through its international networks.

Egypt’s National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) issued the licence, which will enable BT to offer connectivity services and data transfer between companies and institutions operating in Egypt and their branches abroad.

The licence also provides options for contracting and accounting directly with BT, without having to complete the contract and make the payment abroad. This affords clients greater flexibility and facilitates procedures for them inside Egypt, as well as attracting foreign investment into the Egyptian market.

NTRA chief Hossam El-Gamal cited BT’s enthusiasm to acquire a licence as proof that the Egyptian market is attracting overseas investment.
