Global connectivity provider Telxius announced on Wednesday it has launched a new point of presence (PoP) in the Dominican Republic at the NAP Caribe data centre in Santo Domingo.
Telxius said the expansion brings its full suite of network and transport, interconnection and security services closer to customers in the region, helping to meet increasing connectivity demands from carriers, content providers and enterprises.
Telxius also said the new PoP supports the Dominican Republic’s fast-growing digital population and internet economy via direct integration with Telxius’ global network, which currently sports more than 100,000 km of subsea and terrestrial fiber, with 25 carrier-neutral landing gateways and edge data centres.
Together with Telxius’ subsea cable landing gateway in Punta Cana, the new PoP further reinforces the Dominican Republic’s role as a strategic connectivity hub for the region, Telxius said.
According to DataReportal, the Dominican Republic has the largest number of internet users in the Caribbean, with more than 10.2 million citizens online as of Q1 2025.
“The Caribbean is home to a growing number of digital hubs, making it a key growth region for our customers and our network,” said Carlos Casado, northern region sales VP at Telxius, in a statement. “Together with NAP Caribe, we are enabling faster, more secure and more reliable connectivity across the Caribbean and wider Latin America.”
“We are proud to welcome Telxius to our data centre in the Dominican Republic, where its global connectivity footprint is anchored by our advanced technological capabilities, robust security standards, and a highly resilient, carrier-neutral digital infrastructure,” added NAP Caribe CEO Maria Waleska Álvarez. “By aligning our visions and strengths, we are accelerating the development of a seamlessly interconnected regional ecosystem and enabling new opportunities for innovation, growth, and digital transformation across local and regional markets.”
