Vodafone’s Albanian unit pledged to invest €100 million into upgrading its fixed infrastructure, after being given the final go-ahead to merge with internet service provider ABCom by the Albanian Competition Authority.

In a statement sent to SeeNews, the operator highlighted how it began the acquisition process of AbCom in February 2020, enabling it to offer “customers mobile and fixed services as well as a whole new range of products and services”.

With this acquisition, Vodafone Albania becomes a full-converged operator with services in mobile, fixed, and broadcast TV.

“The legal union of Vodafone Albania and ABCom is expected to further develop the electronic communications market and promote competition in the fixed market, improving the quality of services and the customer experience”, said the operator in a statement to TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate.

AbCom was the largest cable operator in Albania with an estimated 1.8 million subscribers. Vodafone is the market leader in Mobile in the country.

Last year the Competition Authority said it approved the acquisition but this was [subject to conditions.](https://developingtelecoms.com/telecom-business/operator-news/9235-vodafone-albania-s-takeover-of-fixed-line-company-can-go-ahead.html)

The operator also announced it will acquire cable provider and broadcast specialists ApNet in late December for an unspecified fee, although this is subject to regulatory approval.
