New Slovenian broadcasting infrastructure is powered by microwave communications system

As part of its drive to create new broadcasting infrastructure across Slovenia, the commercial broadcaster Norkring Slovenia has commissioned NEC Corporation to provide its PASOLINK NEO ultra compact microwave communications system.

By upgrading software for a single platform that supports a wide range of interfaces, PASOLINK NEO allows customers to expand transmission capacity for increasing communications traffic. Under the terms of the contract, NEC will deploy PASOLINK throughout all of Slovenia, helping to connect the country’s digital TV transmitters.

As a result of this agreement, NEC has now deployed the system to 16 countries in the CEE region. Norkring is currently forging new broadcasting infrastructure across Slovenia in preparation for the country’s impending launch of terrestrial digital broadcasting, scheduled for September 2010.

It is expected that the market demand and need for greater performance from technologies that connect to base stations, such as PASOLINK, will become increasingly strong as the number of mobile phone users rapidly increases, mobile Internet services continue to grow worldwide and broadband access markets continue to expand.
