GSM Radio Transmission/WiMAX Training Course

African eDevelopment Resource Centre (AeRC) in collaboration with Telehorizon Telecommunications Ltd is inviting applications to a 4 day practical course which will provide a technical overview of planning calculations and optimisation tools for GSM, GPRS, EDGE,WCDMA and WIMAX.

The course, which will cover GSM/WCDMA transmission, network planning & optimisation, and incorporating WiMAX technology, will take place between the 17th and 20th of November 2009 at eDevelopment House, Nairobi, Kenya.

The instructors in this program are experienced academics from both Europe and South Africa with considerable theoretical backgrounds as well as extensive industrial experience related to the Telecommunication and IP Networks.(View attached Course outline for the Course Lead Trainer details).

The training program is aimed chiefly at Radio Planners and Engineers. Upon completing this course, students will be able to: 

  • Identify the GSM, GPRS, EDGE, and WCDMA network elements;
  • Get an understanding of the different modulations and multiple access schemes available;
  • Learn about the different digital hierarchies;
  • Perform microwave link planning;
  • Study Microwave propagation;
  • Perform topology and equipment planning;
  • Perform TS planning and equipment on BTS and RNC;
  • Perform transmission optimization;
  • Get a clear understanding of the WiMAX technology; and
  • Learn about the WiMAX architecture, radio transmission and applications.

The prescribed Text for the Course will be provided upon registration: 

  • Advanced cellular network, planning and optimization 2G/2.5G/3G…evolution to 4G by Ajay R Mishra; 
  • WiMAX in 50 pages: A Simple explanation to a complex subject by Frank Ohrtman.

 The registration fee for the workshop is US$ 1,480 / Ksh 112,480 add 16% VAT, which will cover the documentation, administration and meals during the Training.

    Refer to the information provided above The course which will cover GSM/WCDMA transmission, network planning & optimisation, and incorporating WiMAX technology,the main point point is concerning to WiMax will you running the training in Practical on Hands by using any product or just only planning, I suggest to bring atleast two product and do on hand how will deploy especially in Mobile WiMax.
