Frost & Sullivan validates ECI Telecom's market share of Russian transmission

Russia has been registering some of the fastest growth in telecoms penetration and modernisation anywhere in the world. According to analyst Frost & Sullivan, the transmission market is growing by 50% per year. One key beneficiary is Israel's ECI Telecom.

"The Russian transmission market is one of the fastest growing in the world, having experienced 50% growth in 2007 alone, vis-à-vis an average global industry's growth of 20%", comments Beatrice Shepherd, Director CEE & CIS, Frost & Sullivan (F&S). "ECI Telecom is a market share leader in this segment, with 24% market share in the SDH, DWDM and ROADM market."

F&S is one of the largest market research companies in the world, with over 1,700 analysts and 31 global offices. It is also respected in such fields of growth consulting, technology and market research, corporate best practices, and competitive intelligence.

Frost & Sullivan expects the optical network equipment market in Russia to continue its growth for at least the next two to three years. In particular, there will be untapped potential from utility companies entering the telecom sector. These "U-telcos" have to compete even more effectively with established service providers by offering quality of service and experience and by containing their OPEX in the long run.

ECI Telecom is now one of the top three vendors in the Chinese U-telco market, and is planning to address this opportunity to help Russian U-telcos as they enter the telecom market.
