Record-breaking operator registrations have been taken for East Africa Com 2010, which will be held on 27-28 April 2010, at Nairobi’s Kenyatta International Conference Centre.

East Africa Com 2010 is described by Informa Telecoms & Media, its organiser, as “the only dedicated congress for telecommunications professionals from across the whole of East Africa” and “currently exceeding all expectations.“ Over 140 operators have already registered to participate.

The 2009 event was “so successful” that for 2010 it will take place in the new, larger and more central venue - Nairobi’s Kenyatta International Conference Centre. Numbers are outstripping 2009 standards by 400%; this year, over 1,000 participants are expected in Nairobi with representation from the whole telecommunications sector. Delegates will have the opportunity to learn, discuss and network at the senior-level conference with over 17 C-level operator representatives.

Companies who have already registered include: Zain, Essar, Safaricom, MTN (Uganda), Orange (Kenya & Uganda), Africa Online Group, Uganda Telecom, Vodacom (Mozambique), Canartel (Sudan), Tempo Africell Burundi, Hormuud Tel (Somalia), CCK (Kenya), TCRA (Tanzania), Zantel (Tanzania), Zain Tanzania, Flashcom (Kenya), ITU Africa (Ethiopia), GSMA Africa, Karibu Telecom (Kenya), Afsat Communications (Kenya), Intersat Africa (Kenya), Rapid Communications (Kenya) and others.

Furthermore, the Hon Samuel Poghisio, Minister of ICT in Kenya will be attending at the head of a delegation in support of the East Africa Com event.

Over two days of dedicated discussion, learning and networking, operators will discuss their business strategies and how to go  forward, new technologies with which to offer broadband, value-added services and network optimisation, as well as cost-effective business models with which to compete in such a dynamic and changing market.

East Africa Com is claimed to be the only annual event dedicated to the communications markets of East Africa, and has become the meeting place for operators (fixed, mobile, wireless), ISPs, regulators, investors and vendors from the region to debate the opportunities and challenges facing the telecommunications industry in their markets and to meet their peers.

In addition, an exhibition will showcase the latest innovations from over 50 telecoms companies present in the region, and will offer many opportunities to network, share ideas and make business contacts.
