Mobiles, Brazil:  Vivo (www.vivo.com.br), South America’s largest mobile telephone carrier, has commissioned Motorola to expand its CDMA network, including additional Motorola SoftSwitches, and expansion of its CDMA 3G EV-DO high-speed mobile service.

The award will help Vivo is expected to help Vivo offer advanced data-rich applications and Push-to-Talk over Cellular to customers in Sao Paulo, Parana and Santa Catarina.
Vivo is confident that the network enhancements will enable the company to move data applications at faster speeds, reduce the overall costs of delivering data and more effectively manage planned network upgrades to maximise the re-use of existing infrastructure equipment. With initial deployments of its CDMA1xRTT service, Vivo customers (and there are 28 million subscribers) have been able to access diverse entertainment, information and communication services including Vivo Torpedo SMS (cellular to cellular text messaging), VIVO WAP (mobile Internet via cellular with instant messaging, e-mail, news services, etc) and Chat da Vivo (chat environment with celebrities via Wap).
