Convergence, IMS, Global: Huawei has announced the commercial
introduction of its IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) 3.0 solution aimed at providing
an open architecture for the development of multimedia services.
Facing the challenges of intense competition and limited
innovation of new services, Huawei IMS 3.0 is promoted as the first commercial
Fixed/Mobile Convergence (FMC) solution in the industry that complies with both
3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project) and TISPAN (Telecoms & Internet
converged Services & Protocols for Advanced Networks). In addition it is
described as providing an open architecture over which service providers, platform
providers, and terminal providers can work together to introduce diversified
multimedia services. With the solution, carriers can create a
subscriber-focused architecture based on FMC and CT-IT convergence, which opens
up network and service capabilities, and promotes a healthy environment for IMS
applications.
Based on a common hardware and software platform, Huawei
IMS solution can help simplify network deployment and decrease capital
expenditures (CAPEX) and operating expenditures (OPEX) for carriers.
With the deployment of the IMS 3.0 solution, Huawei
believes that this open, converged All-IP form of architecture will become a
platform for innovations which will benefit carriers, consumers and Huawei’s
partners in services, platforms and terminal domains.
