Publications, Fibre-optics, CLA: Published by The Fiber Optic Association (FOA), The Fiber Optic Technicians Manual has now been translated into Spanish.
The “first” of a fibre-optic textbook in Spanish will assist in the education of fibre-optic technicians and will promote the use of fibre-optics in Spanish-speaking countries. This is a key goal of the FOA, a non-profit professional society. Many schools all round the world are using The Fiber Optic Technicians Manual to teach fibre-optics, including over 150 FOA-approved training facilities. While most technicians working with fibre-optics use English as a technical language, many instructors have told the FOA that the book would be more useful for training technicians if it were available translated into local languages, especially Spanish due to the growing market for fibre-optics in Latin and South America. The FOA, working with publisher Delmar Thomson Learning and fibre-optic instructor Francisco Castro Cabrera of Mexico City, has therefore produced this first textbook for fibre-optics in Spanish. Translations were carried out by Francisco Castro with an overall review by Patrick Sullivan who teaches fibre-optics in Spain. Francisco Castro is also starting up a new FOA chapter in Mexico to service Spanish-speaking countries. Now that the FOA has its textbook in Spanish, it has also translated its certification exams and will have other FOA materials available in Spanish shortly. * Book details: Manual Del Technico De Fibra Optica.
