Products, Testing, Global: Globecomm has announced an expansion of its Broadcast Lab, a test facility for video applications.

Established in 2001, the facility was designed to integrate test capabilities for the many technologies involved in the delivery of IPTV. Focusing on IPTV delivery networks that incorporate "a little bit of satellite," the Broadcast Lab is installing equipment from Omnibase, Entone, Terayon, Myrio and others.

The expansion will equip Globecomm to conduct R&D for customers and for its own products and services in areas that include MPEG-4, standardising headend systems, integrating video-on-demand capability into regional headends, and adapting advertising insertion systems for operation with IPTV content streams.
