People, Global: Following a raft of recent senior management changes, Lucent Technologies has announced the appointment of Elizabeth Hackenson, 45, as its Chief Information Officer (CIO).
She will be responsible for managing all of Lucent's global information technology systems, having previously held a similar position with MCI. What is more, she has more than 25 years of experience in information technology with the last 12 years in the telecommunications industry. Replacing Ruth Bruch, who left Lucent earlier this year for a position with Kellogg, Elizabeth Hackenson will report to Lucent COO Frank D'Amelio. How long lasting these appointments will be, given Lucent’s recently announced merger with Alcatel, is not clear but it is to be expected that there will be a major restructuring as the two groups integrate their operations.
