Mobile Subscriptions, Central Eastern Europe (CEE): Deutsche Telekom AG has registered a growth in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) which is playing an active role in underpinning the group total earnings.
Mobile phone sales and subscriptions in CEE rose 12% to more than 9.2 million last year. Of particular interest is the fact that while company revenues from mobiles rose 11% in the mobile sector, the final quarter underwent a 17.5% explosion. Group earnings before interest, taxes and deductions rose 5.7% to US$ 25 billion. Telekom was also able to report that the number of broadband-DSL lines in the CEE region more than doubled last year to 0.5 million, helping to raise the group's total number of broadband lines to 8.5 million. Fixed-line revenues in Eastern Europe remained stable last year despite intense competition from other services such as internet telephony. * Telekom's business in the CEE area includes Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. more info: www.telekom.de |
