3G, Global: Andrew Corporation has introduced a compact tower-mounted amplifier (TMA) designed to provide operators with options for coverage and capacity enhancement for 3G networks.

The Andrew OneBase Compact TMA, at 1.5 litres, is claimed to be the smallest and lightest tower mounted amplifier in the industry. It can be visually integrated at an operator's cell site or within a remote electrical tilt-enabled base station antenna. Compliant with the Antenna Interface Standards Group (AISG) standard that ensures basic interoperability of antennas and control infrastructure, it is antenna-line independent and backward-compatible with non-AISG UMTS sites. The product also fits all original equipment manufacturer base station transceiver system (BTS) configurations and is available with accessories to support long-term deployment in operator networks.
