Multimedia, Asia, Vietnam:  Vietnam’s largest mobile operator, GPC (VinaPhone), has selected Comverse’s Multimedia Messaging Service Centre (MMSC) and Mobile Data Gateway (MDG) to provide expanded multimedia and video messaging services.

The selection follows a complex process in which requirements such as mass delivery of time-sensitive video content were stipulated. The aim of the contract is to replace the country’s legacy system by deploying a powerful and versatile MMSC, and thereby increase Vietnam’s leadership position.

The new system expands Comverse’s previous sales to Vietnam, which comprised SMS, voicemail, and prepaid services.

Comverse’s MMSC is a scalable telco-grade system for person-to-person as well as application-to-person messaging of rich multimedia content. It is built on eXtensible Messaging Framework (XMF) architecture and part of the Comverse InSight environment.

VinaPhone is now the largest mobile phone network in Vietnam, with approximately 2.2 million subscribers and the widest coverage area in Vietnam. This latest contract continues the modernisation of the network in order to provide cutting-edge products and the best possible service to customers.
