Network Services, North Africa, Morocco:   Morocco’s largest mobile operator, IAM, has recently offered 2 million subscribers the chance to use Color Ring Back Tone (CRBT). 

The service enables subscribers to personalise traditional ring back tones with music, jokes and sound effects. The Color Ring Back Tone technology used in Morocco has been provided by Huawei Technology. Through global deployment by Huawei, CRBT capacity has reached 100 million subscribers, of whom more than 40% are outside China. Huawei is therefore maintaining its position as most-widespread CRBT vendor worldwide.

CRBT is not only designed to bring the end user a sense of excitement but it also generates an effective revenue stream for operators who are seeking new opportunities to attract new subscriptions and increase ARPU.

Huawei launched its first CRBT system in China in early 2003. In two years its CRBT system functions through 39 operators in 29 countries, including Portugal, Norway, Netherlands, Brazil, Russia, Bulgaria and India. Huawei’s CRBT users reach nine figures. It has been predicted by Ovum that the worldwide RBT market will be worth $2.4 billion by 2008.
