Distribution, Networks, Indonesia, Asia-Pacific: Better planning and more efficient networks are the promise of Aircom International's ASSET system. ASSET is now more widely available thanks to a recent distribution agreement for the Asia-Pacific region. AIRCOM will be exhibiting at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Aircom International has signed a deal with XL, an Indonesian operator and a division of Telekom Malaysia , to supply its ASSET network optimisation tools throughout the region.

XL was the first private company to provide mobile telephony services in Indonesia and is presently the number three operator, serving more than 17 million customers in the region. ASSET is at present being used to address planning issues in the XL's network to increase capacity and roll out nationwide 3G coverage.

In addition, ASSET is intended to enable XL to "design, model and deliver planning services across combined 2G/3G coverage areas, lowering overall capital spend and equipment investment costs, through the more timely production of results and design communications." ASSET is used by other Telekom Malaysia subsidiaries around South East Asia. As part of its contracts, Aircom also provides training courses to XL’s team of network operatives, ensuring they are able to maximise the full range of ASSET’s optimisation and planning features.

* Aircom International provides end-to-end network optimisation consultancy and tools for IP and cellular networks. It specialises in fields such as network planning, sharing, outsourcing and OSS. Headquartered in the UK with offices in 18 countries, Aircom has more than ten years’ experience across 131 countries for half the world’s mobile operators, including more than 3.45 million hours working on 3G networks alone.
