News, Contracts, Subscriber Management, Billing, Nepal, Asia-Pacific: Spice Nepal Private Ltd (SNPL), the country’s first privately-owned mobile operator, has contracted CBOSS Corporation to upgrade its end-to-end convergent IT CBOSS solution after just 18 months of successful operation.

Spice Nepal Private Ltd is using the end-to-end convergent IT solution from Convergent Business Operations Support System (CBOSS), automating such aspects of SNPL's business as pre- and post-paid billing, customer care, interconnect settlements, network management, SMS- and USSD-based services, CRM, value-added services, business intelligence, and dealer relationship management. The solution includes 18 CBOSS products and is built on the hardware platform from HP. Moreover, the real-time billing system (CBOSSrtb) is based on the HP NonStop intelligent platform, which provides unsurpassed availability.

Featuring unparalleled reliability and quality and supporting state-of-the-art services and attractive tariffs tailored to meet requirements of different market segments, the convergent CBOSS solution allowed SNPL to attract not only people who never used telecommunications services but also subscribers of another telecommunication company.

The result was not long in coming, in SPNL‘s opinion. It took SNPL a year-and-a-half to jumpstart from 0 to 650,000 subscribers. Now, the company is about to reach one million customers.

The explosive growth of the subscriber base and expansion of business required SNPL to scale up its IT solution. At the moment, the upgrade project, covering all the products of the solution, is almost complete.

* SNPL is the first privately-owned mobile operator in Nepal, headquartered in Kathmandu. SNPL's network infrastructure is built on state-of-the-art hardware hosting the latest GSM technologies.

** CBOSS is a trans-national corporation with offices located in Finland, Indonesia, Kenya, Russia, Switzerland, UAE and Vietnam. It develops convergent high-end IT solutions for the automation of telecommunications enterprises.
