The Beijing Computing Centre and Mellanox Technologies have announced an agreement to build the Beijing Public Cloud Computing Centre, a laboratory that will further enhance China's cloud computing technology efforts.
The 40Gb/s InfiniBand-accelerated Beijing Public Cloud Computing Centre will provide China’s academic and commercial researchers with easy access to a high-performance computing cloud for their multiple scientific applications.
Utilizing the Beijing Public Cloud Computing Centre, Mellanox and the Beijing Computing Centre will collaborate on various research areas that are of mutual interest and that strengthen both parties’ research efforts within cloud computing. Main research areas of interest include Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (Paas), and other usage models of cloud computing for high-performance applications, as well as network security solutions, scalability and efficiency for cloud computing delivery.
“We are pleased to partner with BCC to provide this industry-leading application performance to China’s large pool of academic and commercial researchers,” said John Monson, vice president of marketing at Mellanox Technologies. “By integrating Mellanox 40Gb/s InfiniBand interconnects, the Beijing Public Cloud Computing Centre can deliver on-demand high-performance cluster access and have a scalable infrastructure for future research in cloud computing.”
“The Beijing Public Cloud Computing Centre will provide accessible research computing services and technology to a multitude of China’s academic and research organizations,” said Dr. Wei Xie, President of the Beijing Computing Centre. “Incorporating Mellanox 40Gb/s InfiniBand is critical to providing China’s research community with leading application performance to enhance and accelerate a wide-range of their research.”
