China Telecom new voice portal solution benefits 30,000 end users

China Telecom has selected a Voice and Data Portal Solution based on the from IP Unity Glenayre for a unified communications pilot scheme.

Thousands of Chinese Businesses are expected to benefit from the new unified communications platform which is based on a Mereon Media Server and Application Server.

IP Unity Glenayre collaborated with GSTA (China Telecom Guangzhou R&D Center), to develop a voice portal solution for small to medium size enterprise customers. GSTA is one of three research and development centres for China Telecom. The Voice and Data portal will be initially deployed to 30,000 China Telecom end users in three major cities: Shanghai, Beijing, and Shenzhen. 

With the new service launch, subscribers will be able to manage all of their critical business communications through a single portal, including fax, audio conferencing, data collaboration, IVR, email, single number service, SMS, and Click to Conference.

"IP Unity Glenayre's carrier grade media server and its ability to partner with us made the company the perfect solution for China Telecom," states Bruce Liang Director of Technology of GSTA.  "IP Unity Glenayre has enabled us to quickly develop and customize this solution to meet the needs of our customers. We evaluated many solutions that offered only some of the services we want to provide. The Mereon platform's ability to support conferencing, T.38 fax, conference and Video has enabled us to meet and exceed our customer's needs." 

The standards-based, open multi-service Mereon is designed to accelerate profitability, shorten time-to-market and increase ROI. The Mereon Media Server, Conferencing and Fax capabilities provide APIs that enable customers to create customized solutions based on proven services.
