Celltick, China Unicom join for Olympics mobile media service

Celltick is launching a mobile media service over the China Unicom network for the start of the Beijing Olympic Games, which will distribute content from Xinhua News, China’s official news agency. The service will be distributed on SIM cards available from China Unicom retail outlets around Beijing, and will be available in English and Chinese.

Celltick has launched a mobile media service over China Unicom’s network, starting with the 2008 Olympic Games. Designed and implemented as a managed service through Celltick’s LiveScreen Media platform, the new service provides official Olympics-related content directly from Xinhua News, the official news agency in China, including the latest news, results and anecdotes and accompanied by topical games and applications. The service will also include content relating to news, lifestyle, fun, business and entertainment.

With LiveScreen Media, mobile operators can non-intrusively deliver segmented content, rich media and advertising to a virtually unlimited number of users. Unlocking a new revenue source via targeted teasers delivered to the idle screen, LiveScreen Media rapidly and easily expands the offering of operators, helping them make the most of today's burgeoning mobile marketing opportunities. The media application will be embedded on SIM cards that are being distributed in China Unicom retail outlets around Beijing. The service will be available in both Chinese and English. The launch of the LiveScreen service in Beijing will be the first in a series of LiveScreen deployments across China.

* Founded in 2000 and privately owned, Celltick is headquartered in the UK with offices in Russia, Singapore, India, Thailand, Israel and Brazil. The company cooperates with mobile operators to turn the mobile idle screen into a powerful revenue driver. It also has close relations with all network infrastructure companies, major SIM vendors, leading handset manufacturers and industry standard organisations, as well as global content providers and media agents.
