CBOSS, Wataniva Mobile bring high-speed access to Palestinian customers

CBOSS Corporation has deployed a comprehensive convergent integrated solution, CBOSSconvergence³, in Palestine. With the new solution, Wataniya Mobile, which is new to Palestine, was able to deploy an intelligent IT infrastructure and provide high-quality communications and Internet access to its users.

The CBOSS solution was chosen in open tender due to the following advantages: it runs on “disaster-proof” NonStop architecture, there is a single point of responsibility for platform delivery and support (allowing rapid application update and lower operating costs) and CBOSS Corporation boasts a “proven track record of successful installations and high-quality on-site training” of the operator’s staff.

Opting for this type of solution, Wataniya Mobile’s ambition is to maximise the availability of innovative services in Palestine. To accommodate this demand, CBOSS also built a sandbox designed to test upcoming services before commercial launch. The operator will be able to test and deploy its new in-house services, marketing campaigns and products — all in a short time.

The platform was commercially launched on November 1, 2009, and Wataniya Mobile has been providing mobile services since then. High quality and adherence to schedule have proved critical for the new player on the Palestinian telecommunications market, as the operator has been able to synchronise CBOSS solution implementation with the deployment of base stations by another contractor and jump-start ROI in due time. Moreover, the integrated convergent software and hardware platform from CBOSS is easily scalable to accommodate rapid growth of demand for voice communications, high-speed mobile IP access and high-speed 3G communications.

* Wataniya Mobile was formed in September 2006, when a new licence for a second mobile telephony operator in Palestine was issued. It works through a partnership between the Wataniya Mobile Telephone Company of Kuwait, majority owned by Qatar Telecom (Qtel), and the Palestine Investment Fund (PIF). Qtel’s has operations in 17 countries. The PIF works towards building an independent, viable and sustainable Palestinian economy and invests in strategic sectors such as telecoms.
