Anite wins first WiMAX Forum approval for protocol test solutions

Anite’s WiMAX Protocol Conformance Toolset has become the industry’s first protocol test solution to be successfully validated by the WiMAX Forum for certifying the latest Fixed WiMAX devices to Wave 2 specifications. This is described by Anite as significant as it means that the latest WiMAX products can now be tested to receive WiMAX Forum Certification, ie, an assurance that new WiMAX products will seamlessly interoperate with solutions from other companies.

Wave 2 is the latest WiMAX update; it defines new features for the Fixed WiMAX (IEEE 802.16-2004) standard, including Quality of Service and enhanced security features. With the introduction of a comprehensive automated test capability that reduces manual intervention for all tests supported by its Anite PCT, Anite believes it is also reducing the cost and time required to achieve WiMAX Forum product certification. Anite’s solutions are used by subscriber station and base station system vendors, chipset and stack developers, operators and test labs, enabling these parties to bring products to market faster by identifying problems earlier in the development cycle and thereby ensuring compliance with emerging standards.

Anite is partnering AT4 wireless, an independent test laboratory for wireless telecoms technologies and products, to validate the PCT system.
