Aircom strikes performance management deal with Croatia's Vipnet

Independent network planning and optimisation consultancy Aircom International has announced a contract with Croatian mobile operator Vipnet to supply its Optima Performance Management solutions across both the Core and Radio Access networks. The deal will act to standardise the Operational Support System (OSS) tools across the entire Vipnet network, with Optima having been deployed in the core network for more than a year. Vipnet will now employ Optima in the radio access network, delivering a unified Product Management (PM) solution to both departments as well as increasing operational efficiencies across the country.

Optima is part of Aircom's Enterprise suite of products and is claimed to be the fastest selling performance and service management tool in Europe. While enabling Vipnet engineers to generate specific KPI queries from a single platform, Optima will also generate consistent network performance data across the entire mobilkom Austria group, Vipnet's owner, meaning networks can be monitored consistently from multiple offices, departments and geographies. The Optima solution will be fully installed across Vipnet's multi-vendor network by end of April 2009. Aircom will also provide system training to Vipnet engineers upon completion.

* Aircom is an independent provider of network and data management tools and services. The company specialises in end-to-end network planning, sharing, outsourcing and OSS optimisation for IP and cellular networks. Headquartered in the UK with offices in 18 countries, Aircom has more than 10 years' experience across 131 countries for over half the world's mobile operators, including more than 3.5 million man hours working on 3G networks alone.

** Vipnet is the first private GSM operator in Croatia. Since its arrival in Croatian telecoms in 1999, prices have been cut down by half and the quality level of services has been raised. Vipnet is also recognised within the Croatian market, constantly developing new technologies and being the first to introduce them on the market, e.g., GPRS, EDGE and UMTS. This February, Vipnet tested Mobile TV to DVB-H standard and HSPA+. Vipnet has 2.5 million customers and is a partner of Vodafone. The company is 100% owned bymobilkom Austria.
