Afghani NEDA Telecommunications to deploy Quick Start IP trunking from O3b

O3b Networks has been developing a new fibre-quality, satellite-based, global Internet backbone for telecoms operators and ISPs. It is now able to anounce that the largest ISP in Afghanistan, NEDA Telecommunications, will deploy O3b Networks' Quick Start service as part of a multi-year, multi-million dollar agreement. The agreement will provide low-latency, fibre quality, Internet connectivity between Afghanistan and the global internet infrastructure.

O3b Networks, funded by Google Inc., Liberty Global, Inc. and HSBC Principal Investments, recently announced it will deploy the world's first ultra-low-latency, Medium Earth Orbit (MEO), Ka-band, fibre-speed satellite network. The network is designed to improve Internet access for millions of consumers and businesses in emerging and developed markets, as well as selected vertical markets. Service activation and ground equipment is scheduled for late 2010.
