The Zimbabwean capital Harare will soon host a new 4G network being rolled out by one of the country’s leading wireless providers. uMAX, an operating division of Dandemutande Investments Ltd., has selected Alvarion’s 4Motion solution for the deployment of the “sizeable” network, which will operate on the 2.5GHz frequency.

uMAX will use Alvarion’s 4G solution to deliver services such as VoIP, video-streaming and high-speed Internet. The deployment is designed to supply its residential and corporate customers with more advanced broadband services enabled through USB dongles and other indoor and outdoor Customer Premises Equipment. uMAX will be the first service provider to enable consumers and businesses access to such services in Zimbabwe.

“4Motion allows us to deploy a comprehensive solution, that will directly improve customer experience and enable us to grow at a pace that suits our specific needs,” commented Russel Clinton, CEO of Dandemutande Investments.

Eran Gorev, president and CEO of Alvarion, said: “The end-to-end approach behind 4Motion assures that uMAX’s customers will begin benefiting from the new and enhanced services they plan to offer right away.”

The 4Motion solution delivers ubiquitous wireless broadband connectivity, enabling integrated mobile, nomadic and fixed connectivity in a single base station that supports a mixture of residential and business users.
